The Sacred Sandwich on Purpose Driven

Here is a link at "Sacred Sandwich". It is especially good at comparing passages from "The Message", etc., with more accurate translations.

Thanks Tim for the link. Really what I am thankful for is that God is raising up men and women who are warning the redeemed.

Berit Kjos on crossroads has written extensively documenting the false and blasphemous teaching in the 'message' by Peterson. Here is a link:

My dad came to visit a couple of months ago and we had a heated discussion. I sketched out some notes on what was said and here's part of it with his statements in bold...

We did 40 days of purpose and it was great. Have you?
No. And I wouldn't want to participate in that.
Why not?! Rick Warren has sold millions of the books and has given 95% of his money to charities. All of the material in the book came straight from the Bible. What do you have against him?
For one thing, he uses whatever translation comes in handy to prove his point ... including The Message.
What's wrong with that?
It's a blasphemous interpretation of God's word. Not a word-for-word translation.
Oh, all the bibles are the same. I use the living bible and many seminary students are taught to use it. It's so easy to read and understand.
But it's someone's interpretation instead of a word-for-word translation!
They are all someone's interpretation. How many people would agree with you? 1%? 2%? Are you saying that all of these men who have studied the Bible for years are wrong?
They could be. Jesus said the way is narrow and few there be that find it.
What does that have to do with it?! When are you going to answer my question?
It means the majority is not necessarily right. And the answer to your question is 'Not very many will agree with me. Very few.'
Something is wrong with you, then. There must be something wrong with your brain.
Dad, if you are really interested in the Bible version issue, I can email some information to you.
Whatever you send me will be deleted without reading it. I don't want my mind to be messed up. What version to you use?
The King James.
Do you read it?
Everyday.
Good. Keep doing that if that’s the right one for you.

So he doesn't even want to know the truth. Sad, huh?

What's sad about it is that this is a common argument.

How many times do you hear people say someone "Preaches from the Bible" only to find that what that means is that they say things that sound like they are from the Bible?

Been there, seen that.
