Isn't it amazing that the most vocal critics of the Christian Church seems to be the followers of Rick Warren, Bill Hybels and the Emergent Crowd? They have a "new" way to present the gospel. Oh wait, I guess you can't call it the gospel when there is no mention of sin and repentance!!
They present a new "gospel" with no real substance. No Hell to preach, so there is no motivation to embrace their "gospel" other than the appeal that they will have "more joy" than those who don't believe.
The classic question for them would be "I have a million dollars, no limit to women, all the food I can eat and whatever else I want...I can get whatever I want".
Ok, so how does the new "gospel" compete with that?
It can't.
On the other hand, money and all that cannot save you from hell. Only the substitutionary attonement of Christ can do that. Hence we preach the cross.
But they won't. They can't. They can't accept the rejection that comes with it.
That would wound their pride!
