Hey Gore!: The Sun Heats the Earth!

"In a sharp rebuke to climate alarmists who believe human-generated carbon dioxide is responsible for causing catastrophic global warming, a Russian scientist has issued what amounts to a news flash announcing, "Sun Heats Earth!"

Habibullo Abdussamatov, the head of space research at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, has published a paper in which he tracks sunspot activity going back to the 19th century to argue that total sun irradiance, or TSI, is the primary factor responsible for causing climate variations on Earth, not carbon dioxide."

Wow -- the sun is responsible for heating the Earth? Who'd have thunk it?

Recent Chill could be Start of Longer Term Cooling, says Researcher

For the proponents of man-caused global warming, I'm sure it never seems to end:

"I recently came across a research report written by Don J. Easterbrook, a Professor of Geology at Western Washington University that explains his theory of global cooling, which he says began in 2002, was interupted by the El-Nino of 2005, and will continue, by his projections until 2040. For the whole time period of 2002-2040, he expects a drop in temperature of about 0.5 C. Curiously, his projection is only for the Northern Hemisphere. This article stood out to me simply because since the late 80's, 1988 in particular, we have been bombarded with media stories warning of the dangers of global warming. Our more experienced readers may remember that in the 70's, there were many an article about global cooling and even an impending return to ice age conditions. So, an article on global cooling in this day and age, which may be seen as being more appropriate 30 years ago, piqued my interest. . ."

The rest is here. . ..

Arctic Ice Refuses to Melt as Ordered!

Here's another installment about the silliness of "global warming" as posited by politicians and "environmentalists". This is just another installment of a series of articles on the subject here at the 'Fly.

Again, we know that the earth's temperature goes through warming and cooling cycles. Or do we all need to stop breathing?

On a humorous note, I was taking care of granny the other day. She gets cable TV. There was a program on about creating a "green" garden, of all things. One of their suggestions? Get rid of the grass and replace it with cement tiles and gravel, after all "Grass only consumes water". Yes, that is what they said!

Uh, green plant life converts CO2 to oxygen?!?!?!? Duh? It reminded me of the lyrics to "Big Yellow Taxi":

"They took all the trees, and put em in a tree museum
And they charged the people a dollar and a half to see them
No, no, no, don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got till it's gone
They paved paradise, and put up a parkin' lot"

Now we're "putting up parking lots" in the name of "being green". You just gotta laugh.

Global Warming, Blind Faith, and Global Delusion

From "Critical Issues Commentary":

'Some environmentalists with neo-pagan worldviews (e.g., Al Gore) have posited the "truth" of CO2-induced global warming, defined the production of CO2 as "sin" and thereby made all humans guilty of a holocaust-like assault on planet earth. Even if CO2 is doing what this group says it is, there is no way to repent of this "sin" because human beings cannot live without putting more of it into the atmosphere. Essex and McKitrick’s book (both are Canadian college professors) confirms my conclusion that the global warming scare is more religion than science. The book begins and ends with chapters about what the authors call "The Doctrine of Certainty." We shall begin by examining this "Doctrine."'

You can read the rest here. I think this issue is a very important one.

A Crack in the Global Warming Concensus

There has been a downward trend in the global temperature over the past two years or more, and it's related to reduced sunspot activity. But, hey, that's just "an inconvenient truth" to many.

As one degreed in the sciences, I'd think that this should show how "global warming" science isn't good science. But then when the objective is global governance, good science isn't relevant at all.

Take a read at this link for the next "Environmentalism" installment here at the Gadfly.

Destroying the Myth of Global Warming
Brannon Howse

Just got a link to this in my email from Christian Worldview Network. It's a clip of a DVD you can purchase. It's worth your time!

Another Reason to Chuckle

I've said it before and I'll say it again -- the Earth's climate goes through cycles. Always has (post flood) and always will. It was in the 70's we were all being preached at about the "oncoming ice age". I was just out of high school. I remember it well. And of course, now we're all going to fry and it's man's fault.

Duh.

But then of course don't expect any backpedaling. Too many egos are at stake. And in the article, notice the onset of another "we're gonna freeze" frenzy.

Like I said. It's worth a chuckle.

Forget global warming: Welcome to the new Ice Age

For those of us who are so sick and tired of the "Global Warming" scare and can remember the "Ice Age" scare of the 60's, enjoy this excerpt from the National Post:

"Snow cover over North America and much of Siberia, Mongolia and China is greater than at any time since 1966.

The U.S. National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) reported that many American cities and towns suffered record cold temperatures in January and early February. According to the NCDC, the average temperature in January "was -0.3 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average."

China is surviving its most brutal winter in a century. Temperatures in the normally balmy south were so low for so long that some middle-sized cities went days and even weeks without electricity because once power lines had toppled it was too cold or too icy to repair them.

There have been so many snow and ice storms in Ontario and Quebec in the past two months that the real estate market has felt the pinch as home buyers have stayed home rather than venturing out looking for new houses.

In just the first two weeks of February, Toronto received 70 cm of snow, smashing the record of 66.6 cm for the entire month set back in the pre-SUV, pre-Kyoto, pre-carbon footprint days of 1950.

And remember the Arctic Sea ice? The ice we were told so hysterically last fall had melted to its "lowest levels on record? Never mind that those records only date back as far as 1972 and that there is anthropological and geological evidence of much greater melts in the past.

The ice is back..."

The fact is that the Earth has gone through warm and cool cycles for ages. It has been doing that regardless of what humans do. It was happening before industrialization came about. But, I guess that's just an "inconvenient truth". . .(tb)

Hey, Al Gore: Global Warming Is Caused By The Sun...

From Christian Research Network:

"It looks like Watcher’s Lamp won’t get a Christmas card from Al Gore this year…

"Al Gore may have to return his Nobel Peace Prize

NASA reports that the "fleet of THEMIS spacecraft, launched less than 8 months ago, has made three important discoveries about spectacular eruptions of Northern Lights called "substorms" and the source of their power. The discoveries include giant magnetic ropes that connect Earth’s upper atmosphere to the Sun and explosions in the outskirts of Earth’s magnetic field."

So what? Here’s what: The U.S. Committee on Environment and Public Works website reported the following back in March:

"Astrophysics and a host of the rest of the world’s leading solar scientists are all convinced that the warming of recent years is not unusual and that nearly all the warming in the past 150 years can be attributed to the sun."

Editor’s note: Read these related posts to understand that this is Biblically motivated and not politically motivated:

Testimony on Global Warming

David Barton has a wonderfully done presentation on "environmental science" at Worldview Network, which he recently gave before the U.S. Senate. You owe it to yourself to give it a read. It's very satisfying to see material like this provided to our leaders, especially how he stands for the reliability of the Scriptures.

Polishing the Handrails on the Titanic?

Today's "Crosstalk" is worth a good listen, especially in view of the movement of contemporary evangelicalism toward environmentalism.

Is there a balance? Is global warming true? If there is a balance, where is it?
